The fist paragraph on your website matters as it tells people exactly what the page is about. Don’t fluff around, tell people exactly what the page is about and give them what they are looking for right away.

If you wanted to find a highly rated lawn mowing business in your area and one site had something like ‘5 Star Local Lawn Mowing Business trusted by hundreds of local home owners’ and then had a number of 5 star reviews listed with a link to call or make and enquiry and then another site that just fluffed about who would you most likely call?

It is critical that on each page of your website the first paragraph answers the customers question or gives them what they are looking for. Make sure the words you are wanting to optimise for are in this paragraph. It is as simple as that.
